Solid State

Quiet Drive Solid State Relay Option

All LB models are available with our Quiet Drive Solid State Relay option.

A good portion of the LB's success is related to our solid state relay design. Solid state reacts much more quickly than standard mechanical relays which translates into very precise temperature control. Solid state does so without the given, eventual failure of a mechanical relay. We fully expect our solid state relay to last the life of the unit.

We have more to tell you about our solid state relay and our design choices. You'll see why it's an obvious choice to include it on your new LB. Just click below.

LB 18 Chamber cold.jpg

        Side-Only Element Design

The LB Series design was inspired, in part, by culinary bladesmiths who generally make long, thin blades. These bladesmiths needed to use the entire length of the chamber without overheating their blades at the back wall. We took a fresh look, got rid of the rear wall heating element, and nailed it.

The front to back temperature distribution in the LB is incredibly even. Positioning in the chamber has no effect and the entire length can be used.

The LB, with it's side-only element design, is the new standard!

Side Opening
Cool Touch

        Side Opening Door

Heat treating requires the removing of some very hot material from the chamber in order to quench. Everything in the chamber is hot, which includes the door. The doors on the LB's swing out and to the side, a full 180° if you need it. This puts the super-heated door well away from you as you concentrate on the work at hand.

The side opening door is an excellent design choice and makes all the difference.

        Cool Touch Handle

The handle/latch on our swing out door is conveniently located at the front of the door, not hidden along the side. This spring loaded, phenolic handle is cool to the touch, is one-handed in design and serves as the door latch as well.

Many thanks to those who have offered feedback on our door handle/latch. We have updated the design to make centering, inserting and all-around operation cleaner and easier!

Loud Alarm
Alarm 2018 2.jpg

        Loud Alarm Output Jack

LB models are standard equipped with a Loud Alarm Output Jack for use with our Loud Alarm Option.

All of our controls feature an audible alarm. These alarms let you know when you've reached temperature, and more importantly, when it's time to quench. These alarms however, aren't really loud enough to break through the noise found in a working shop. In response, we've included an alarm output jack on the bottom of the control enclosure that allows you to plug in our Loud Alarm (sold separately). Just plug it in and enjoy 80db of irritating alarm bliss.

You can purchase the Loud Alarm here:

Relay Access Open LB lr.jpg

        Relay Access Port

All LB models incorporate our Relay Access Port for simple, no-panel-off relay replacement.

Simply remove the access plate to gain access to the relay. There's no need to remove the control panel and dig into the internal wiring. It's absolutely simple and effective and all it takes is a screwdriver!

It's a given that mechanical relays will fail at some point. This relay access port really comes in handy when they do.

Door Shield.jpg

        Door Shield

The LB's feature a door shield to provide protection against firebrick damage as well as to reduce the temperature seen at the door and door handle.

        2200°F (1204°C) Maximum Temperature

The maximum usable temperature for the LB models is 2200°F (1204°C). This maximum is well within the range for the vast majority of steels used by knife makers and machine shops.

LB Swing View 1.jpg

        Swing View Control Enclosure

The TAP and Rampmaster temperature controls used on the LB's are fitted into our Swing View Adjustable Enclosure.

The Swing View is a pivoting, swing-up enclosure that allows you to rotate the control to a comfortable viewing and programming angle. Once you're done, lay it back down to see it from across the shop. It's that simple.

The swing view pairs well with TAP touchscreen control as viewing angle can be perfectly aligned. You'll love it.

LB Tool Rest 1.jpg
