KH Series

120V Personal Design

The KH Series is designed for North American heat treaters who don't have access to 240V. The KH Series takes its form from our well regarded KF and LB models with the KH 418 model featuring a side-element-only design and firebrick construction. It's a rugged and solid design that serves the heat treater well.

KH models are capable of reaching temperatures up to 2200°F which makes them well suited to heat treat the vast majority of steels common to knife makers and metal workers. The KH's are available in a variety of control choice options as well as the Quiet Drive Solid State Relay option.

We offer the KH models in 2 depths: 13.5" and 18". See the Specifications section below for details.

Features

120V North American Operation

For North American heat treaters who can't get access to 240V, the KH Series is made just for you. KH Series heat treat ovens are designed to operate from the North American standard voltage of 120V.

The KH Series models are very capable of reaching temperature, however they will take about twice as long to get there than a comparable 240V model. Generally speaking they will reach 1650°F in about 1-1/2 hours.

Side Opening Door

Heat treating requires the removing of some very hot material from the chamber in order to quench. Everything in the chamber is hot, which includes the door. The doors on the KH's swing out and to the side. This puts the super-heated door well away from you as you concentrate on the work at hand.

Cool Touch Handle

The handle/latch on our swing out door is conveniently located at the front of the door, not hidden along the side. This spring loaded, phenolic handle is cool to the touch, is one-handed in design and serves as the door latch as well.

Relay Access Port

All KH models incorporate our Relay Access Port for simple, no-panel-off relay replacement.

Simply remove the access plate to gain access to the relay. There's no need to remove the control panel and dig into the internal wiring. It's absolutely simple and effective and all it takes is a screwdriver!

It's a given that mechanical relays will fail at some point. This relay access port really comes in handy when they do.

Door Shield

The KH's feature a door shield to provide protection against firebrick damage as well as to reduce the temperature seen at the door and door handle.

Swing View Equipped

Our TAP II and Rampmaster temperature controls are fitted to our Swing View Adjustable Enclosure.

The swing view is a pivoting, swing-up enclosure that allows you to rotate the control to a comfortable viewing and programming angle. Once you're done, lay it back down to see it from across your shop. It's that simple.

The swing view pairs well with touchscreen controls like the TAP II as viewing angle can be perfectly aligned. You'll love it.

Firebrick Construction

Like all our heat treat ovens, KH models are built completely of firebrick.

Firebrick has the desired characteristic of storing heat and then releasing it slowly and gently during the soak/hold portion of the process. It's this particular quality that serves the heat treat process so well
.

Loud Alarm Output Jack

A Loud Alarm output jack is included to connect our optional Loud Alarm. Enjoy 80db of irritating alarm bliss and never miss another quench.

2200°F Maximum Temperature

The maximum usable temperature for the KH models is 2200°F (1204°C). This maximum is well within the range for the vast majority of steels used by knife makers and machine shops.

Our KH 418 model features a side-element-only design borrowed from our LB Series models.

Maximum temperature is limited by the heating element wire used. We use a Sandvik Nickel-Chrome alloy wire for all KH model heating elements. This alloy has proven to last, it tends to stay put and generally plays very nice when used at temps below 2200°F.

Maintenance Parts Tag

To assist you in replacing worn items we have included a maintenance parts tag indicating the proper Evenheat part numbers for anticipated maintenance items.

Wish we had this decades ago.

Strong Stand and Tool Rest

Stands are strong and include a tool rest. Cool!

Power Interrupt Switch Equipped

The Power Interrupt Switch removes power from all heating elements as the door is opened and re-applies power as the door is closed.

The switch used for this feature is a true safety switch and is designed specifically for safety applications. This safety switch will literally tear apart and open any welded or stuck contacts - true safety!

Build Options

TAP II or Rampmaster Controls Option

KH models are available with your choice of the TAP II or Rampmaster temperature controllers.

Check out our Controls tab for detailed descriptions of both controls.

Quiet Drive Solid State Relay Option

All KH models are available with our Quiet Drive Solid State Relay option.

Our Quiet Drive Solid State Relay System offers tight temperature control, high reliability and increased heating element life. The Quiet Drive is arguably the best designed and best performing solid state system on the market.

Voltage Options

KH Series models are designed specifically for the North American standard voltage of 120V.

Default production for KH Series models is 120V.

We do offer to build KH Series models in 100V by request.

KH Series models are not available in 240V designs.

All controls available on the KH Series models will operate properly on both 50Hz and 60Hz line frequencies. To say it another way, line frequency has no effect. It doesn't matter.

Evenheat recommends that you check your operating voltage before ordering or placing the oven in service.

Voltage Phase Options

KH Series models are produced in a single phase design only.

3 phase Delta and Wye (380V, 400V and 415V) designs are not available.

Specifications

KH 414

At 13.5" deep the KH 414 is our shallowest model in the KH Series. It offers the smallest footprint which comes in handy when shop space is at a premium. The KH 414, because of its small size, uses a wrap-around heating element design and does have a heating element along the back wall.
