KO Series

High Temp Design

The KO Series of heat treat ovens are designed with a thicker firebrick structure and a maximum temperature of 2400°F. This extra insulation and headroom offers more speed and power per cubic foot for high mass loads.

The KO Series heat treat ovens feature side opening doors that don't subject you to the added heat of a drop-down door. They also feature a forward facing door latch that remains cool and is within easy grasp.

The KO's are available in a variety of control choice options as well as our Quiet Drive Solid State relay option, which you want.

We offer the KO models in 3 depths: 18", 22.5" and 27". Please see the Specification section below for details.

Features

Side-Only Element Design

The KO Series design was inspired, in part, by culinary bladesmiths who generally make long, thin blades. These bladesmiths needed to use the entire length of the chamber without overheating their blades at the back wall. We took a fresh look, got rid of the rear wall heating element, and nailed it.

The front to back temperature distribution in the KO is incredibly even. Positioning in the chamber has no effect and the entire length can be used.

The KO, with it's side-only element design, is the new standard!

Side Opening Door

Heat treating requires the removing of some very hot material from the chamber in order to quench. Everything in the chamber is hot, which includes the door. The doors on the KO's swing out and to the side. This puts the super-heated door well away from you as you concentrate on the work at hand.

Cool Touch Handle

The handle/latch on our swing out door is conveniently located at the front of the door, not hidden along the side. This spring loaded, phenolic handle is cool to the touch, is one-handed in design and serves as the door latch as well.

Relay Access Port

All KO models incorporate our Relay Access Port for simple, no-panel-off relay replacement.

Simply remove the access plate to gain access to the relay. There's no need to remove the control panel and dig into the internal wiring. It's absolutely simple and effective and all it takes is a screwdriver!

It's a given that mechanical relays will fail at some point. This relay access port really comes in handy when they do.

Door Shield

The KO's feature a door shield to provide protection against firebrick damage as well as to reduce the temperature seen at the door and door handle.

Swing View Equipped

Our TAP II and Rampmaster temperature controls are fitted to our Swing View Adjustable Enclosure.

The swing view is a pivoting, swing-up enclosure that allows you to rotate the control to a comfortable viewing and programming angle. Once you're done, lay it back down to see it from across your shop. It's that simple.

The swing view pairs well with touchscreen controls like the TAP II as viewing angle can be perfectly aligned. You'll love it.

Firebrick Construction

Like all our heat treat ovens, KO models are built completely of firebrick.

Firebrick has the desired characteristic of storing heat and then releasing it slowly and gently during the soak/hold portion of the process. It's this particular quality that serves the heat treat process so well.

Loud Alarm Output Jack

A Loud Alarm output jack is included to connect our optional Loud Alarm. Enjoy 80db of irritating alarm bliss and never miss another quench.

2400°F Maximum Temperature

The maximum usable temperature for the KO models is 2400°F (1316°C). This maximum is well within the range for steels and ceramic materials.

We use a Sandvik Iron based alloy wire for all KO model heating elements. This alloy has proven to last, it tends to stay put and generally plays very nice when used at temps below 2400°F.

Maintenance Parts Tag

To assist you in replacing worn items we have included a maintenance parts tag indicating the proper Evenheat part numbers for anticipated maintenance items.

Wish we had this decades ago.

Strong Stand and Tool Rest

Stands are strong and include a tool rest. Cool!

Build Options

TAP II or Rampmaster Controls Option

KO models are available with your choice of the TAP II or Rampmaster temperature controllers.

Check out our Controls tab for detailed descriptions of both controls.

Quiet Drive Solid State Relay Option

All KO models are available with our Quiet Drive Solid State Relay option.

Our Quiet Drive Solid State Relay System offers tight temperature control, high reliability and increased heating element life. The Quiet Drive is arguably the best designed and best performing solid state system on the market.

Power Interrupt Switch Option

The Power Interrupt Switch removes power from all heating elements as the door is opened and re-applies power as the door is closed.

The switch used for this feature is a true safety switch and is designed specifically for safety applications. This safety switch will literally tear apart and open any welded or stuck contacts - true safety!

Voltage Options

Our default production for KO Series models is 240V, Single Phase.

We do offer to build KO Series models in 200V, 208V, 220V and 230V by request.

All controls available on the KO Series models will operate properly on both 50Hz and 60Hz line frequencies. To say it another way, line frequency has no effect. It doesn't matter.

Evenheat recommends that you check your operating voltage before ordering or placing the oven in service.

Voltage Phase Options

KO Series models are produced in a single phase design only.

3 phase Delta and Wye (380V, 400V and 415V) designs are not available.
