GTS 2541

Evenheat's GTS 2541 is the original oval shaped kiln that continues with the legacy, all-firebrick design. The GTS 2541 hit the ground running at the dawn of the kiln fired glass revolution in 1991. Our updates of 2024 breathe new life into this time-honored favorite.

The GTS 2541 features our TAP II, Icon+, Icon and Rampmaster 3 controls and is standard equipped with our exclusive Swing View Adjustable Viewing and Dyna-Lift Lid Lift.

Order yours with our Quiet Drive Solid State relay option for tight temperature control and longer element life.

Features

Top Load

The GTS 2541 is a top loading design and offers a chamber 41" wide x 25.25" long x 13.5" deep. The rim of the chamber is 32" off the floor which is at waist height or lower making it very easy to load and position your glass.

All Firebrick Design

Staying true to its roots, the GTS 2541 is built completely of firebrick.

Firebrick is desired in a glass kiln as it stores heat in the beginning of the firing which acts to smooth out temperature swings. It then releases heat slowly at the completion of the firing resulting in very calm annealing, especially over an annealing range. It's just beautiful.

Lid Lift Assist

Large firebrick lids like that found on the GTS 2541 are quite heavy. To assist in opening and closing we have equipped the GTS 2541 with our patented Dyna-Lift lid lift assist.

The Dyna-Lift lightens the force needed to operate the kiln lid by attaching and lifting at a single point; the lid handle. The lift assist is not attached to the kiln chamber at all. All heavy lifting forces are directed entirely to the kiln base and not the kiln itself. It's a wonderful design that places no lifting forces onto the chamber which would only weaken it.

The Dyna-Lift Lid Lift Assist is the best designed, best performing lift assist available.

Swing View Equipped

GTS 2541 temperature controls are fitted to our Swing View Adjustable Enclosure.

The swing view is a pivoting, swing-up enclosure that allows you to rotate the control to a comfortable viewing and programming angle. Once you're done, lay it back down to see it from across your studio. It's that simple.

The swing view pairs well with touchscreen controls like the TAP II, Icon+ and Icon as viewing angle can be perfectly aligned. You'll love it.

Relay Access Port

The GTS 2541 incorporates our Relay Access Port for simple, no-panel-off relay replacement.

Simply remove the access plate to gain access to the mechanical relays. There's no need to remove the control panel and dig into the internal wiring. It's absolutely simple and effective and all it takes is a screwdriver!

It's a given that mechanical relays will fail at some point. This relay access port really comes in handy when they do.

2 Position Lid Vent

The GTS 2541 is equipped with a 2 position lid vent.

The lower vent position props the lid by about an inch. Perfect for venting off adhesives and other low temperature binding materials.

The upper vent position props the lid by about 4 inches. Perfect for speeding up the cooling process.

Curved Element Routes

Heating element routes in the GTS 2541 lid are all curves. There's not a straight line to be found. These curved routes promote additional element retention.

Maintenance Parts Tag

To assist you in replacing worn items we have included a maintenance parts tag on the GTS 2541 indicating the proper Evenheat part numbers for anticipated maintenance items.

Wish we had this decades ago.

GTS 2541 models are available with our Quiet Drive Solid State Relay option.

Our Quiet Drive Solid State Relay System offers tight temperature control, high reliability and increased heating element life. The Quiet Drive is arguably the best designed and best performing solid state system on the market.

Rolling Option

The GTS 2541 is easily made mobile with our rolling option.

The GTS 2541 base is equipped to accept our casters. No frame or extra hardware required. Simply attach the casters to the standard base and you're ready to go!

Voltage Options

Our default production for the GTS 2541 is 240V, Single Phase.

We do offer to build in 200V, 208V, 220V and 230V by request.

All controls available on the GTS 2541 will operate properly on both 50Hz and 60Hz line frequencies. To say it another way, line frequency has no effect. It doesn't matter.

Evenheat recommends that you check your operating voltage before ordering or placing the kiln in service.

Accessories

GTS 2541 Full Shelf Furniture Kit

1 - Full Shelf - 38" x 22-5/8" x 1" (5.2 square feet)

12 - 2" Posts

1 - 6 Reed Haik Brush

1 - 24oz. Shelf Primer - Hotline Hi-Fire Brand

The full shelf is a seamless shelf that's 1" thick and offers 5.2 square feet of firing surface.

We recommend using all 12  posts, spaced accordingly. Any posts should be at least 2" or more. We do not recommend posting the shelf lower than 2" or placing it directly on the kiln floor.

GTS 2541 Half Shelf Furniture Kit

2 - Half Shelves - solid (not as shown)

12 - 1" Posts

1 - 6 Reed Haik Brush

1 - 24oz. Shelf Primer - Hotline Hi-Fire Brand

When shelves are used together there is a single seam that runs down the middle, front to back. We recommend that you always use posts under your shelf to raise it off the floor. This kit comes with 1" posts for this purpose. You are welcome to any use size post you wish. We do not recommend placing the shelf directly on the kiln floor.

From a handling standpoint, the half shelves are easier to manage than the single, full shelf.

GTS 2541 Full Shelf

Full Shelf - 38" x 22-5/8" x 1" (5.2 square feet)

The full shelf is a seamless shelf that's 1" thick and offers 5.2 square feet of firing surface.

We recommend using 12  posts, spaced accordingly. Any posts should be at least 2" or more. We do not recommend posting the shelf lower than 2" or placing it directly on the kiln floor.

GTS 2541 Half Shelf

Half Shelf - Two shelves are needed to create a full firing surface.

We recommend that you always use posts under your shelf to raise it off the floor and suggest starting with 1" posts. You are welcome to use any size post you wish. We do not recommend placing the shelf directly on the kiln floor.

Posts

Posts are used to bring your shelf up and off the kiln floor. Generally speaking you always want to "post-up" your shelves. Posting up allows heat to get to the underside of the shelf which helps to eliminate and minimizes bubbles. It also helps to minimize differences in shelf temperature to avoid breaking.

We suggest 1" posts as a starting point. We do not recommend placing shelves directly on the kiln floor.

Haik Brushes

Our Brushes are a wide and very soft brush used to apply shelf primer.

Shelf Primer - 24oz. (Dry)

Shelf primer creates a layer of protection between the kiln shelf and your glass as it prevents your glass from sticking to the shelf. It is generally applied using a soft brush like our Haik brush. It can also be airbrushed on with the proper equipment.

Our shelf primer of choice is a Hotline product called Hi-Fire. It's supplied in dry form and is mixed with water for application onto the kiln shelves.
